एशिया कप में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच खेला गया पहला मुकाबला बारिश के कारण रद्द हो गया. पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए भारत ने खराब शुरुआत के बावजूद पाकिस्तान को जीत के लिए 267 रनों का लक्ष्य दिया था. ईशान किशन ने 82 और हार्दिक पांड्या ने 87 रनों की बेहतरीन पारियां खेली. दोनों ने पांचवें विकेट के लिये 141 गेंद में 138 रन की साझेदारी करके टीम को मजबूत स्कोर दिया. इस मैच के बाद पाकिस्तान ग्रुप ए में तीन अंक लेकर शीर्ष पर है और उसका सुपर फोर में पहुंचना भी तय हो गया. भारतीय टीम का यह पहला मैच था और उसके एक ही अंक है. उसे सोमवार को नेपाल से खेलना है जिसमें जीतने पर वह भी सुपर फोर में पहुंच जायेगा.
